She dreamed of Aquarius, the water bearer. Gently and gracefully the maiden poured liquid from a silver vial. Allison followed the flow with her eyes until she saw another face, a smiling face, highlighted by candle glow--Scanlon. She jerked awake.
From the kitchen came the sounds of tinkling glass and popping cork. Stumbling to the doorway, she saw Joe, champagne bottle in hand. "I thought we'd celebrate my new assignment, just the two of us," he said.
Her smile was uncertain.
